Questions

What does encrypted in the browser mean?

Your browser locks the note before it leaves your device. The server gets only the locked note. The key to unlock it never leaves your browser.

Which encryption does Secure notes use?

It uses AES-GCM with a 256 bit key. Your passphrase makes a key with PBKDF2 and 600000 rounds. That key protects a random vault key. The vault key locks each note.

Can I use Markdown?

Yes. Choose Markdown for a note and press Preview. Plain text works too.

Does the vault lock by itself?

Yes. It locks after 15 minutes with no input. You can also press Lock at any time. The key is kept only in the memory of the page.
